DearestUncleGreg,
I thank theLord forgivingyou the
giftof theFaith.
I rememberyourvisit to Indonesia, someyears
ago…Youcomposed& taughtus (even though
youdon’t speak the language):
“Wahai Hambaku” (OMy servant! Free thyself
from the fettersof thisworld...) and
“Ya Tuhan, Segarkanlah..” (O God, refresh and
gladdenmy spirit)
HowAWESOMEwasTHAT! Irememberusall
being excited thatwewere ‘coached’ byUncle
GregParker - theBaha’iMusicSuperstar!
For a long time, the Faith was banned in
Indonesia. Idon’t think Ieverrememberedany
newprayers orwritings being put intomusic.
However, after your visit, you somewhat
inspired a couple of the “musically talented”
youth to compose music for prayers and
writings in Indonesian. It got the ball rolling.
Andnowwehavemany…So, for that, I thank
you, dearestUncleGreg.
Then, Iwas able to come toAustralia to study
and livewithyour family foracoupleof years.
I thank you for opening your heart & your
home to me. I thank you for welcoming me
into your family. I thank you for allowingme
to experience being in a Baha’i Choir, back
in those days.I thank you for the experience
of being in The Face of Glory, even though I
neverhadanysingingtraining inmy life. (Gosh
- Iwasbrave in thosedays )
AlthoughIdon’treallycommunicate it,youare
very very much in my thoughts and prayers,
daily.
HappyBaha’iBirthday, dearestUncleGreg.
Youare suchablessing toall.
Much loveandprayers,
Zarrin
(And Happy Baha’i Birthday greetings from
Peter, Shanita & Jaymon too. They all send
their love&prayers toyou.)
Itwas fouryearsago inGermany
when IheardaboutGreg’scancer
from Ileanaand thatmadehervery
sadbecausesheseemed to loveher
Uncle really fromdeep inherheart.
I didn’t know him and all I could do was to
ask him to come to Germany and to try the
Iranian traditional medicine. But it was too
complicated and it wasn’t possible. Years
later when Ileana and I came to Australia to
live here, I heard about that Uncle who was
supposed to have died years ago! But he was
still alive and thismademe very interested to
knowhimmore–who is this strong soulwho
is able tofight the cancerwithonlyhis strong
spiritand love? Idon’thave thechance tomeet
him often and enjoy his spiritual company
but the few times that Imet him Iwas so very
impressedwithhim.
He is actually the only one in the family here
in Perth that I sometimes don’t understand,
becauseofhisAussieaccent, buthe isalso the
one that I enjoyalwaysbeingwith, andgetting
his positive lovely energy, even though he
himself isweakand shouldneedenergy.
Ioncehad thehonourofdroppingGreghome
after a picnic. It was so nice to have him in
the car, andwe chatted about somany things.
Then I heard from other people how famous
he isand this isonlybecauseofhisendless love
for everybody and his detachment from this
world. Greg is someone special andhe taught
memuch about the really important things in
life. He has his place inmy heart which will
stay forever.
