Greg Parker - A Tribute - page 58

ToMr ‘PeePee’
Our family will be in the Holy land
remembering you at the shrines on
your40thBaha’i birthday.
Here’s a message to you from one of your
mates who has known you since the time of
your ‘birth’ all thoseyears ago in 1974.
I met you at the 1st National Baha’i Youth
Conference in Araluen, soon after I arrived
inPerth.
I’ll share some interesting things thatcome to
mind, since then.
When we were on the youth committee
together, there was an example of your zeal,
enthusiasm and “nothing will stop me from
serving” attitude;
You had lost your drivers licence due to one
too many speeding fines (or other traffic
infringements.) You rode your bicycle all the
way from your homeWilleton toDianella at
MashidTaheri’shome forourmeetingswhich
werealways full of lifeandveryanimated.
We also had lots of fun on teaching trips,
musical firesides, bush dances, youth camps,
singingat old folkshomes.
Kevin and I used to enjoy stimulating
discussions, on all sorts of subjects relating
to the Faith, when you would pop in to our
little house in Berwick St. (A stone’s throw
fromyour ‘RoseCottage’ houseall theseyears
later )
Whenwe came back fromFiji, withour little
baby Roushan, I was feeling pretty displaced,
and it was singing in the little singing group
thathelpedmeheal.
Roushan was born a few months before
Rachel, and I remember what amiracle that
was since Sandra was told she could never
have a child due to her health problem.
I remember how excited you were about
this baby and a “funny” thing you did when
we came to visit… Greg, the excited dad…
went toher cot, andpickedup the fast asleep
Rachel to showheroff tous!!!
We sharedmany familyholidays togetherand
our kids reallyhad fun together.
Times were challenging for you when your
firstmarriage failed and Iwitnesseddifferent
strengths grow inyou .
Who would have dreamt that the little
babies would later become cousins when
youmarriedmy little sister, Malini, and you
became an important part of our Sundram
family.
I have loved being a part of the choir family,
your great offering of love that has reached
out and touched the hearts of so many
members of the choir, the Baha’i community
and thewider community.
It touched my heart when you found a way
to acknowledgemy commitment to choir by
including my favourite song and honouring
me in theCD cover.
We’vehadourmomentsofheateddiscussions
and fun times, and I admire your spiritual
evolution, which you have so courageously
shared with somany. You reach out, stretch
till it hurts, and touch the hearts of all you
meet.
What I admire most about you is how you
have managed to mould your genius mind,
creative talents and giant heart to fit into a
gentle, compassionate home of the spirit,
with humility, trust, fortitude, faith and
patience inGod.
What agift andanexample tous all.
How sweet thatmybuddyas ayouth, became
mybrother–in-law,andthenmytruebrother.
Thankyou forgracingour family, andhelping
us all growand tokeepbelieving inmiracles.
Withbucketsof loveandprayers,
SusheelCroft
