Greg Parker - A Tribute - page 56

DearestUncleGreg
YourBaha’ibirthday isuponyou.
So, it isfitting forme to recallmy
impressionofyouwhile Iwas
growingup; thatyouwereaman
devoted toserving theFaith.
You conducted the choir, recording
children’s songs and prayers and directed
amazing musicals. Of course to me,
being in the choir was a most desperate
aspirationwhichmeant that I was pretty
desperate to impress you.
Looking back, I don’t believe I ever quite
impressed you with my vocal talents
(which I have come to accept aremodest
atbest). Iwill,however, always remember
you recording “O God Guide Me” in
which you let me sing -solo no less - the
last verse. To a small girl with dreams of
playing Eponine someday, that was the
height of cool. I had arrived. And, after
a couple of decades, I have even forgiven
you for purposely pitching my verse too
low. So I thankyou forgivingmemyfirst,
and last, bigbreak.
More importantly, I thank you for being
an enormously funny, inspiring and
loving figure inmy life. What a privilege
to call you ‘Family’.
I reallydo loveyouverymuch.

DearGreg
Unfortunately Ihavenothad the
chance toknowyouwell. However,
from the time Ihavebeen fortunate
enough tosharewithyouand
seeing the love fromallof thosewho
surroundyou, it isclear tomeyou
areagreatman.
Sitting with you and holding your hand
whilst you said a beautiful prayer for
Meetra and myself, touched me deeply.
It is truly inspiring, as a young man, to
witness your great spirit.
