Greg Parker - A Tribute - page 115

DearGreg,
Youarea soul stirring testimonyofGod’s love,
and through your music, you have brought
together an ever growing number of people.
Youhave been such a pure channel to convey
some very profound spiritual teachings to the
heartsofpeople.
Thank you for trusting God, for letting the
river of life and art follow its course and
naturally plant so many new seeds in our
spiritual beings.
I pray you will have many sweet moments,
some restand thateverythingwillbe love, love
andmore love to sustainyour souls.

MyfirstcontactwithGregParker
wasnotwith themanhimself,but
throughhis lovingandawe inspiring
daughter,Rachel.
During our first Book 1 study circle, tutored
by the lovely Shantha Sundram, Rachel
recounted the story of a time when they had
been travelling and she had fallen ill – her
father, apparently, hadprayed forher recovery
and offered himself in her place, receiving an
almighty sacrificial headache, while Rachel
herselfwascured. A remarkable story in itself,
but it was the love and devotion in which it
was told that really touchedme.
Myfirst real encounterwithGreghimselfwas
at aSummerSchool onRottnest Island,where
he was calling the annual Baha’i bush dance.
To be honest, he seemed rather gruff and
stern, and Iwonderedwhat the fusswasabout.
Many years later though, he let me join his
belovedNewEraChoir, albeit at the back and
away from the microphone. Over this time
it would be impossible tomiss what the fuss
is about – Greg’s indomitable spirit and all-
embracing love for those who surround him
is palpable– themusical feats hehas achieved
in the last few yearswell renowned. But for
me, it has been his exemplary example in his
lifeof service, always thefirst tocome forward
each year at the Summer School, despite
the physical difficulties, to assist with young
and old alike – and always with joy and self-
deprecation. ThankyouGreg– for themusic,
thehelpand themany,many laughs!
