Greg Parker - A Tribute - page 74

Greg -
How can you summarize into a
few short lines the life and love of
someone who has been in your life
longer than theyhavebeenoutof it?
Many memories – common friendships,
passionate discussions, happiness, shared,
sadness felt.
Flashes of Greg and Rob throwing, between
them, over our wooden garden fence, your
precious young son (Ian), while they discuss
the comings and goings of the day. Ian loved
and survived this frequent ritual of theirs
without a scratch.
A much younger Parker – having burnt the
candle at both ends, sound asleep and being
draggedbyhis feet tohis bed at theother end
ofourhouseatDonnybrook,withnotaflicker
ofwakening.
On a cold southern morning, Greg hopping
in his sleeping bag from the guest bedroom,
to our bedroom, then straight on in to our
bed into themiddle, betweenRob andmyself
– demanding a cup of tea whilst continuing
somepointof interestormusical idea fromthe
night before. He still complains loud and long
aboutRob’s teamakingefforts.
Watchingandcomparingasourchildrenmove
from infancy to childhood, to adults andnow
to comparing Grandchildren, my God how
that timehasflown.
Our friendship that, no matter the time
between visits, is continued as if never apart –
and this ishow itwill alwaysbe.
Love youmyBrother –HappyBaha’i Birthday
