Greg Parker - A Tribute - page 76

I have known Greg for many years
and first came in contact with him
whenhewas investigating the Faith
andcame tofiresides.
His knowledge of Christianity was most
impressive, and as he studied the Baha’i Faith
he acquired an equally impressive knowledge
of the Faith and his arguments in support his
beliefswerecogent. Ihavenodoubt thatmany
enquirers found the Faith through Greg’s
efforts.
He has a charismatic personality and people
arenaturallyattracted toGreg.He isoneof the
bestknownand lovedpersonalitiesamong the
Baha’is. I havehad thepleasureof going travel
teachingwithhim and particularly remember
the trip to the Northwest. His skill with the
guitar and ability to sing and compose songs
were veryuseful indeed andhehad the knack
of being able to get audience participation. As
timewent onhe became a very accomplished
composerandsongwriter.Hisformationofthe
New Era Choir and numerous performances
are legendary among the Baha’i community
and others are more qualified and I am sure
will commenton theseaspects.
I remember some of Greg’s presentations at
Summer schools, but it is strange how people
also remember sillyevents andone such is the
“magic” show which Greg performed. It was
very funnyand I still laughwhen I thinkof it.
Greg’s battle with cancer is nothing less
than heroic and his conviction in the power
of prayer is to be greatly admired. His
determination to achieve goals in spite of his
illness is well-known among the Baha’is. We
in the Southwest were greatly honoured that
in spite of his serious illness he came down
several times tovisitus.
When I asked Marjorie if she had any
contribution to make to this tribute she
said,” He is a goodman” and although brief,
it summarizeswhat we think of Greg. He is a
goodmanandwe lovehimdearly.
