Well is itwith thedoer
ofgooddeeds
Soonwill our handful of days, our
vanishing life, begone, andwe shall pass,
empty-handed, into thehollow that is
dug for thosewho speaknomore;
whereforemustwebindour hearts to
themanifest Beauty, andcling to the
lifeline that failethnever.Wemust gird
ourselves for service, kindle love’s flame,
andburnaway in itsheat.Wemust loose
our tongues tillwe set thewideworld’s
heart afire, andwithbright raysof
guidanceblot out thearmiesof the
night, and then, forHis sake, on the
fieldof sacrifice, flingdownour lives.
Well is itwith thedoersof great deeds.
